BRD Template

The Business Requirements Document is a key document for documenting requirements.
  • The focus is on the business requirements, that is, the requirements from the "user" point of view, or, on what the business owners and users are trying to accomplish.
  • Business requirements, both high-level and detailed
  • Stakeholder requirements
  • Includes the non-functional requirements for completeness
This template is a simple and effective format for small and medium projects, typically for waterfall and phased approaches. It can be used / adapted for large projects and agile approaches. The template has been used in several Project Management Offices.

The BRD template is found below.

An example using the template, and notes for the template are to come.
